What happens to my device after I trade it in?

Your device is securely wiped, tested, and either refurbished or responsibly recycled. We make sure nothing goes to waste — and your data stays safe.

How will I be notified about the status of my trade-in?

You'll receive email updates at every step: confirmation, shipment instructions, and final inspection. We’ll also reach out if anything needs your attention.

What items aren’t eligible for trade-in?

We don’t accept devices that are carrier-locked, iCloud/FMI locked, or not owned by the seller.

What items can I trade in?

Our catalog includes over 50,000 devices—phones, laptops, consoles, and more. We only buy items that are owned by the seller, and not carrier-locked or security-locked (like Find My iPhone).

How does Flip1 work?

At checkout, choose Flip1, answer a few questions about your old device, and get an instant trade-in offer. Send your device to us for free and enjoy the discount on your new item right away.

What is Flip1?

Payments & Refunds

Are there any fees for using Flip1?

Nope—using Flip1 is free. Shipping is on us, and there are no service fees when your device matches the condition you described.

The only time a fee may apply is if your device doesn’t meet the expected condition and you choose to have it returned. In that case, a handling fee of €19.90 will be charged to cover logistics and device validation.

What happens if I return or cancel an order paid with Flip1?

Cancellations or returns follow the partner store’s usual process. If you're within the 14-day return window, simply contact the store where you made the purchase—they'll handle the return with you directly.

We’ll take care of the trade-in on our side if needed.

Note: Ownership of your trade-in device transfers to Flip1 once the instant valuation has been applied as a discount at checkout. If your order is cancelled after that point, we may not be able to return the device—but we will refund you the full valuation amount.

When will I be paid for my trade-in?

You get your trade-in value instantly at checkout. Once we receive and inspect your device, you’re all set. If the condition doesn’t match, we’ll contact you with options.

Preparing your device

🎮 Preparing your PlayStation

Resetting your PlayStation is simple:

  1. Go to Settings > Initialization.

  2. Choose Restore Default Settings.

  3. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the reset.

🎮 Preparing your Xbox

Factory reset your Xbox to make sure no personal data is left behind:

  1. Press the Xbox button.

  2. Go to Profile & System > Settings > System > Console Info.

  3. Choose Reset Console.

  4. Select Reset and Remove Everything.

Once complete, your Xbox is clean and ready to ship.

🤖 Preparing your Android phone

Wipe your data and disconnect from your Google account before sending in your Android device.

If the phone is with you:

  1. Go to Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory Data Reset.

  2. Tap Reset Device, then Erase Everything.

If it’s not with you:

  1. Sign in to your Google account.

  2. Go to Security > Your Devices > Manage Devices.

  3. Find your phone, click the three dots, and choose Sign Out or Remove Access.

Once it’s gone from your account, you’re good to go.

📱 Preparing your Samsung phone

Make sure to factory reset your phone and remove it from your Samsung account before sending it in.

If your phone is with you:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Accounts.

  2. Tap your account > More Options (three dots) > Remove Account.

  3. Enter your password to confirm.

  4. Back in Settings, search for Factory Data Reset and follow the steps.

If you don’t have the device:

  1. Sign in to Samsung Account.

  2. Go to Devices.

  3. Find your phone and click Log Out, then confirm.

🎧 Preparing your AirPods

To prepare your AirPods for trade-in:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.

  2. Tap the i next to your AirPods.

  3. Tap Forget This Device, then confirm.

  4. Place your AirPods in the case, close the lid, and wait 30 seconds.

  5. Open the lid and hold the setup button on the back until the light flashes amber, then white—this resets them.

They’re now ready to ship.

đź’» Preparing your MacBook

Before shipping your MacBook, sign out of iCloud and erase all data. It’s a quick process:

If the MacBook is with you:

  1. Open System Preferences (or System Settings) > click your Apple ID.

  2. Under Overview, click Sign Out and confirm with your password.

Your Mac is now disconnected from iCloud and good to go.

If your Mac isn’t with you:

  1. Go to iCloud.com/find and log in.

  2. Select All Devices, then your Mac.

Click Erase Mac, enter your password, then click Remove from Account.

⌚ Preparing your Apple Watch

Make sure your Apple Watch is unpaired and erased before sending it in. This includes removing it from Find My.

  1. Visit iCloud.com and sign in.

  2. Go to Find My.

  3. Click All Devices, then select your Apple Watch.

  4. Click Erase Apple Watch and follow the prompts.

  5. After it's erased, click Remove from Account.

That’s all—your watch is ready for trade-in.

📱 Preparing your iPad

Before you send your iPad, erase your data and sign out of Find My. We can’t accept devices that are still linked to an iCloud account.

If your iPad is with you:

  1. Open Settings > General > Reset (or Transfer or Reset iPad on iOS 15).

  2. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

  3. Enter your passcode and confirm.

If your iPad isn’t with you:

  1. Head to iCloud.com/find and log in.

  2. Select All Devices, then your iPad.

  3. Click Erase iPad > enter your Apple ID > confirm.

  4. After erasing, click Remove from Account.

📱 Preparing your iPhone

Before sending in your iPhone, you need to erase your data and remove the device from your Find My account. Flip1 can’t do this for you—it must be done manually.

If you have the device with you:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Reset (or Transfer or Reset iPhone on iOS 15).

  2. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

  3. Enter your passcode if asked, then confirm by tapping Erase iPhone.

That’s it—your iPhone is ready to go.

If the device isn’t with you or doesn’t turn on:

  1. Visit iCloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID.

  2. Click All Devices and choose the device.

  3. Click Erase iPhone, enter your Apple ID password, and confirm.

  4. Once erased, click Remove from Account.

You can do this even if the phone is offline.

Before you send it off, make sure it’s set for a new life:

âś… Sign out of accounts (Find My iPhone, Google, Samsung, etc.).
✅ Remove cases, SIM cards, and memory cards—but keep the original charger in the box.

Can I add extra devices to my shipment?

No, each trade-in is linked to a specific order. Please don’t include extra devices.

How do I ship my device?

Just drop it off! Use the free Helposti code we send you and take the package to any Posti drop-off location. No labels or waiting—super easy.

How do I package my device?

Use protective packaging to keep your device safe in transit. Include all accessories if possible.

What shipping methods does Flip1 offer?

We offer free shipping through Posti. You'll get a Helposti code by email, which you can use to drop off your package at a Posti point.
